Croatian community's farewell to Archbishop Smith

We already know that our current Archbishop Richard Smith has been appointed Archbishop of Vancouver.

In recent years, an unofficial tradition has been to receive Croats at the Archbishop's house on the occasion of his birthday.

This year, Archbishop Smith will receive us on April 29, 2025, at 1:00 PM in his office, at: 8421 101 Avenue NW, Edmonton AB T6A 0L1.

All who can, are invited to join the Farewell to the Archbishop at 12:45 pm , in front of the Archbishop's office. This is also an opportunity not only to congratulate him on his birthday, but also to say goodbye as a Croatian community to a man who for 18 years has been a friend, brother and father to our Croatian community in Edmonton, and will now continue to be so to our Croatian community in Vancouver. On that occasion, we will also present the Archbishop with a 'Letter of Appreciation' from the Ambassador of the Republic of Croatia to Canada, H.E. Mr. Vice Skračić, with which we would like to officially acknowledge the Archbishop for his friendly approach to the Croats and the Homeland.

The Archdiocese of Edmonton will officially bid farewell and see off the Archbishop on May 1, 2025, with a Holy Mass at St. Joseph's Cathedral.
